How a Home Alarm System Works

Author: admin Category: Security Systems

Fear of burglary or home intrusion is common and yet an alarm system for the home can ease that fear. Alarm systems can range from the very simple systems that are essentially an all in one do it yourself home security solution, to very complex  multi camera, multi sensor systems.  Yet when it comes right down to it,  basically types of security systems do the same thing.  Each type is designed to either make a loud noise or to dial home to a monitored and staffed security company when triggered by an intrusion.  Effectively they can notify the company, the police department, and your neighbors to the fact that someone has forced their way into your home. Of course, in the event of a false alarm or accidental tripping,  all of these systems can be disabled and muted by the home owner through the use of a key or a code.

Alarms come in two varieties-the silent and those that make a loud noise. The silent type will alert a company that you have previously hired, who will send out a security officer or will contact the police. The other make so much noise that your neighbors are alerted to the intrusion and hopefully then act upon this, calling the police. The alarm may be triggered by a broken window or door or may use an infrared system, wherein a beam runs from a sender to receiver unit (or units) and when the beam is broken by someone crossing it, the alarm goes off.

With the huge variety of systems available you can be sure that there is an alarm system that will suit your personal needs as well as fitting what you can afford.  One very popular type in recent times includes setting up a home security camera system.  These models are especially convenient since the cameras can be set up to record any activity that is going on in the home.  Some newer cameras also have the ability to connect to the Internet and allow a homeowner to only need Web access to see what is going on at home.  The best way to decide what system you wish to purchase is to read up online as to what is available.
