Fitting A Wireless Burglar Alarm

Author: admin Category: Wireless Bulgar Alarms

The biggest advantage of buying a wireless burglar alarm is that it is much easier to install yourself. You do not have to pay for an electrician to come round and fit it in most cases, so the savings can be considerable. Another bonus is that you can place the sensors on any part of the windows and doors and not have to worry about running wires through difficult places. This speeds up the installation time by hours.

The first thing to do is decide where the main control panel will go. Most people fit them near to the entry door for easier access. What you don’t want to do is place it too far away so you run out of time to key in the password numbers when you walk through the door. You should also try to make sure the panel is not visible from the outside. A potential burglar will be looking through your font window for signs of any alarm. If you have a monitored alarm then it will need to be near the phone line outlet for easier connection. The control panel will also need to be very near to an electrical socket for the power supply. Argos have a great range of wireless alarms with very good features for not too much money. Most decent electrical outlets will also stock them.

The door and window sensors need to be placed where any would be burglar would enter the home, so think carefully where you put them. Motion sensors should be placed in positions where they are not blocked by pieces of furniture or other items. Try to picture where a person would move once they enter the room and focus the sensors in that general direction. If you are not sure about this then ask the store assistant for advice, or use online services such as argos online who have help lines and very good customer service when you buy their alarm systems.

The sensors have small transmitters to send the signal back to the control panel. Avoid placing them next to metal objects and televisions as this can interfere with the signal. Most can be stuck down with tape, but for a more secure job you should screw them into position if you can. The signal box should also be screwed into place on the wall and programmed. Once this is done you should be up and running.
