Deciding on a Burglar Alarm System

When choosing to secure your home from unwanted intrusions you have many options and something for every budget.  Don’t think so?  At the very least you can purchase a sign that states you have a home monitoring system, this alone will thwart many would be attackers.  How much do those cost, can’t be much more than five dollars!

Although that is a very real solution to a potential problem it’s only cosmetic and will stop only the untrained or unprepared thief.

There are two legitimate types of burglar alarm systems, one is wireless and the other traditional wired.  There are a few options within each of these too.  For example you can choose to have it professional installed or you can do it yourself.  You can also choose to have the system monitored from an off premise location.

More and more people are choosing to go the wireless route.  Choosing this option will save you from drilling holes in the floor, wall and ceiling.  Along with those holes you’ll have to pull cable to reach each sensor for a successful installation.  On the other hand with wireless the setup is much easier and requires less tools and time.

The obvious difference between wired and wireless burglar systems is the cost.  Wired systems are significantly less money than the wireless ones.  However, should you go the do it yourself route you need to determine your skill level with doing an installation.  If you are an experienced handyman and don’t mind taking extra time to offset the costs then consider the wired option, otherwise you may want to go wireless.

Overall the thing to remember is that you have options, be it a simple sign or a complex monitoring system.  There’s a solution that meets your need and budget, a little research will flush out which is best for you.
